July 26th
We have completed our scheduled games with Comerica for this season. There is a chance we may work one more game in order to earn the bonus of $250. Please email Katalin or Mary to let them know how you feel about doing a 10th game & if it fits into your schedule if you’d be willing to work.
Unfortunately, the Tigers failed to sweep the White Sox, losing 5-1. Concessions were busy but profits were on the low side, as were tips. There seemed to be a lot of families on the third level so we sold a number of Value Meals, both adult & kid. Mr. Whiston, Dearborn Superintendent was one of our customers. We earned $18.80 in tips.
A huge thank you to the 7 people who worked. We needed 10 workers for a complete team. Fortunately, since EFHS has such a good reputation, Anitra, Comerica’s head of concessions, gave us three workers without charge. Our stand leader, Rossi, was great as were the three workers. Don, Hedi, & Mary took care of tech while Heather, Lori, Carrie, Mike, & Hedi worked the registers. Don grilled with the help of the Comerica staff.
Thank you again to all those who have worked this fundraiser!

July 22nd
Another good night at Comerica. We had a little of everything, a short rain delay, Canadian money, a ton of coupons & credit cards, a friendly crowd (except for the lady that stole a bag of chips), super workers, and lots of smiles. Unfortunately, the Tigers came up short, losing 2-1. Their record is 7-1 with Edsel working.
Our stand leader was little help but the veteran team we had more than made up for him. Bruce & Mary handled the tech jobs while Todd, Diana, Cindy, Rita, Rochelle, & Katalin worked the registers. Behind the scenes Brenda, Ann, John, Jenni & Bruce were hopping serving up dogs, nachos, and more.
Thank you to everyone who worked. It’s really enjoyable meeting so many new people. Even though we’re working hard we’re having fun and making money for the kids! Without the profit from this game we have earned over $6,100. working Comerica concessions. THANK YOU to all of the Tiger workers.
Sunday is our last scheduled game. We are still in need of workers. Please help out if you can. We may also be adding one more game later in the season to make up for the cancelled game in May. If we complete the 10 game promise we get a bonus of $250. If we do another game it’ll probably be in September or possibly, if the Tigers make it, a play-off game.
Go Tigers! Go T-Birds!

July 10th
Edsel Ford could very well be the Tigers good luck charm. The Tigers are 7-0 when the Class of 2010 works the game. Last night the Tigers won 5-1 with All Star Edwin Jackson getting the win.
While the Tigers were lighting it up on the field our workers were lighting it up on the grill, pouring beer, and serving up nachos & dipping dots. We had a total of 7 stands across 3 sections using 7 tech people and 22 volunteers all together. Special thanks to everyone who rearranged work schedules and the tech people who stepped up even though these jobs can sometimes be a little more stressful. Our tech people were Nancy, Hedi, Mary L., Cindy, Brenda, Don, & Mary. Those working registers, grilling, serving, and/or helping to prepare the food were Patty, Mike, Hedi, Holly, Bill, Lisa, Paul, Mary L., Tamar, Gregg, Jenni, Carrie, Lori, Michelle, Brenda, Don, Marylyn, Barb, and Anna.
At the end of the game the fans watched fireworks and our workers once again pitched in to do the counts, clean-up, and wrap-up whatever needed to done. Our tips totaled $169.28 for the night. We had an amazing group that worked well together and got the job done!
THANK YOU to everyone for working this game.
We have two more games, July 22nd & 26th. We need a minimum of 3 more workers for the 26th. Remember, more hands make the work load lighter. It is truly helpful that we have money to put down as deposits as the party plans start to evolve. Thank you to all of our Tiger workers!
July 8th
What an enjoyable evening! Everything fell into place. We worked the same venue as yesterday & had 5 repeat workers so we knew the lay of the land. We also knew we could count on Lisa, our stand leader. She was a great help & a lot of fun. It was Polish Night & the weather was beautiful!
A huge thank you to our tech team of Cindy & Bruce and of course Ann who helped out with cash. The registers were hoping, especially the beer & grill. Thank you to all of those workers, Brenda, Ann, Katalin, Barb, Kathleen, Mark, Bruce, Jenni, Nancy, Carrie, Mary, & our recent EFHS graduate Holly.
We made $115.00 in tips and had sales over $12,000!
It’s been a lot of work but a lot of fun. It’s enjoyable to meet new people from EFHS. The customers are happy to have a night out and joke around making the evening even better. Besides making some money for our kids the Tigers won their second game in a row. Luke French won his first major league game!
We also need at least 1 more worker for the 22nd, 3 would be better. The 26th is covered but if we could get two more volunteers that would be great too.
July 7th
We had a beautiful evening working the portables. It was cool with a constant breeze, the atmosphere was festive, & we worked our tails off. Our workers made almost $10,000 in sales. For a Tuesday night we were hopping. We had a great stand leader, Lisa, who worked along side of us the entire evening. It was an enjoyable crowd, everyone was friendly, & some were generous with their tips. We earned $138.30 in tips. Tonight we have the same spot with the same stand leader.
How many schools have a principal that would help out with a fundraiser like this? Well, Edsel Ford does. Mr. Jaafar, a short time after knee surgery, worked hard filling nacho tray after tray & getting beverages while his wife enjoyed the game & danced to the “Elvis” music. THANK YOU, Mr. Jaafar for helping us out.
Along side of Mr. Jaafar were Ann & Colleen, while Katalin, Rochelle, Diana, Bruce, & Cindy sold beer. The grilling of selling of dogs was done by Todd, Don, & Mike. Colleen & Mary handled the cash duties while Cindy helped out so she’ll be ready tonight. It was a great crew. We had the minimum number of workers but everyone worked well together, smiled, & got the job done. We had a little trouble at the end of the evening with numbers falling into place but Lisa thought things would be worked out. All in all, it was a profitable evening. THANK YOU to everyone who worked! See you tonight.
June 23rd & 24th
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to work these games but I understand our group did a great job! Thank you to all those who worked, especially those that took on the added responsibility of being the tech leaders for cash & inventory. We still have 5 games, all in July, and are in need of workers. Please help us out!
May 20th
Another game behind us! The Tigers won 5-3 & it was “Country Night.” We had a rookie crew with 11 first time workers & two that had only 1 game of experience. Our stand leader, Darrell, was helpful and we made it through balancing on the first try and in the end only being down a couple of dollars.
We arrived around 4:00 and were hopping most of the night. Much of the night we were seeing coupons for free meals come by our way. We served 252 free meals and had another 23 miscellaneous coupons.
Our biggest mishap was misplacing a register card but fortunately, by the end of the night it showed up. It was almost “Secret Shopper” night where planted shoppers come through to see if you’re doing a good job. We haven’t heard anything & don’t even know if they visited our grill but our cashiers did a great job of serving with a smile. Thank you to Mike, Maureen, Mark, Debbie, Rita, & Joanne for working hard and making the costumers happy. As for the back of the scenes, Ned, Kevin, John, Sherri, Ann, & Don kept the hot dogs coming. Mary and Don handled the tech jobs with Ann beside them helping out wherever needed. Special thanks to Joanne, Edsel’s Media Specialist, & her husband Ned, as well as Debbie. None of them have children in the Class of 2010 but came and worked hard for the good of our kids.
We know our profit will be much lower than our first game. We had 2 less registers making our venue a little smaller, the crowd was less, & serving all of the coupons meant that customers were spending (& tipping) less. Whatever we make is a profit though & with 7 more games we’ll have a good part of our fundraising completed.
We still need workers for the July games!!
THANK YOU for everything you are doing!
Go Tigers!! Go T-Birds!!

Opening Day
We made it! Opening Day was truly a success. The day had a few minor glitches but nothing much to worry about. We had a great spot, section 325, it was where the fans entered onto the 3rd level. The gates opened earlier than usual so we started off slow but before we knew it things were hopping. The fans were great keeping us aware of the score, leaving tips, and just being friendly. We had lots of customers cheer us when they saw our Edsel Ford sign and even the Dearborn High customer who we had still gave us a good tip. Our final profit for the day will be known in about 2 weeks. It’s estimated that we made somewhere over $1,000. I’ll let you know as soon as we find out. That goes along with the $232.00 in tips. All tips go right to the kids as well as the profit check.
A big thank you to Wilbur, our Comerica stand leader, who led us through the day. Many THANKS to Nancy, Judy, & Hedi, our tech crew for the day. Nancy was in charge of the cash. She kept everything on track and with the help of Judy balanced on the first try at the end of the day. Hedi took over the inventory & knew exactly what to do. Many thanks to our behind the scenes crew, Mary L., Patty, Anna, Ann, Tamar, and Lisa. They never flinched when the cashiers yelled for more dogs, nachos, extra cups, etc… Our cashiers did a great too. Thanks to Ashley, Bill, Hedi, Katalin, Kathleen, Marylyn, and the two of us. After awhile the registers were almost as easy as a calculator.
Even though we were busy & tired we had a good day & enjoyed meeting fellow EFHS parents. It’s a great way to fundraise. No need to beg family, co-workers, and friends to buy things and no baking! If you haven’t signed up to be trained please do so ASAP. Training dates that are still open are: Tuesday, April 21st, Wednesday, April 22nd, & Thursday, April April 23rd. All dates are 6-9:00. Our Comerica contact person, Anitra, said it’s possible that a 2-5:00 session will be added on the 18th. We will let you know if it is added.
Again, THANK YOU, to our Opening Day crew!!!
Katalin & Mary
